The current library proposal includes providing 26 off-street parking spaces, all of which will be provided at ground-level and accessed from the Wanaka Street frontage.
Wellington City Council planners and traffic engineers are currently undertaking detailed modelling of activity for the entire community hub – this includes looking at ways to optimise parking and reducing traffic issues.
A car parking strategy for the wider precinct as a whole is also being developed. This broader parking strategy involves providing commuter and community parking (200 car parks in total) as part redeveloping the shopping centre. This will allow for time restrictions for on-street parking around the community facility area.
However, we are aware that we also need parking solutions while constructing the Johnsonville Community Hub. In August we will be asking for your feedback on the solutions we will offer.
